Another day, another attempt to break food-related records. World's longest Pizza, now how about two tons of fries to go with that we had?
Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at this, the attempt to Grand Forks (in North Dakota) of "the world largest French Fry Feed" impossible.
Despite the name rather appropriate, Grand Forks was unable to get enough people forking up fries, reportedly twincities.com.4,110 pounds of French fries (about 2 tonnes) were fried-less 4,890 record, set a couple of years ago.
Some might say that the records are made to be broken, but is this obsession with food-related records, a sign of our growing dysfunctional relationship with food? How competitive eating, produce large quantities of food (much of which is likely to go to waste) seems misguided at best and at worst a waste seriously.
Once we broke records were sporting ones: mile faster, jump higher, longer wheelbases. we only hope that doesn't grow the children of today that aims to beat the record "Biggest Burger eaten" ...
